Tras tan solo dos a\u00f1os, el riesgo de accidente cerebrovascular puede reducirse a niveles normales (como en personas que nunca han fumado).
\nTras cinco a\u00f1os, el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de cavidad oral, garganta, es\u00f3fago y vejiga se reduce a la mitad. En las mujeres que dejan de fumar, el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de cuello uterino se reduce al nivel de las mujeres que nunca han fumado.
\nTras diez a\u00f1os, el riesgo de morir de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n se reduce a la mitad (en comparaci\u00f3n con quienes siguen fumando), as\u00ed como el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de garganta y p\u00e1ncreas.<\/p>\n

Tras quince a\u00f1os, el riesgo de cardiopat\u00eda isqu\u00e9mica alcanza el nivel de las personas que nunca han fumado[13].
\nAdem\u00e1s, se observa una disminuci\u00f3n del riesgo de diabetes, mayor resistencia al estr\u00e9s, mayor bienestar, mayor potencia sexual en los hombres y mejor funci\u00f3n reproductiva en las mujeres.
