Lip Reader Uncovers Melania’s Five-Word Message To Trump During Pope Francis’ Funeral

Following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, a massive crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City for his funeral services. Dignitaries and mourners from around the globe attended the solemn event, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Prince William.

Among the international attendees were former U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who had traveled from Washington, D.C. for the service. Reports noted a moment of tension between the couple during the ceremony. While in the square, Melania was seen urging her husband to show more courtesy, particularly during the “sign of peace” portion of the service, where guests were invited to shake hands with those nearby.

According to lip-reading specialist Nicola Hickling from Lip Reader Limited—speaking via Oddspedia to the Express—Melania turned to Trump and said, “You should go do it.” After repeating herself, Trump reportedly replied, “Oh, alright,” before reaching out to shake hands with President Macron and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.

Trump’s reserved approach drew criticism, especially in light of his history of imposing high tariffs that have strained relations with several of the countries represented at the funeral. He was also scrutinized online for wearing a blue suit instead of the customary black attire that symbolizes mourning and respect at such events.

Despite the somber setting, Trump made political remarks before his departure, telling MSNBC: “[The Pope] loved the world. He was a good man—really a terrific guy.” He also mentioned that he planned to engage in discussions with numerous global leaders during the gathering. “There will be many meetings. We’re speaking with a lot of world leaders,” he said.

He added, “Trade discussions are progressing well. I think there’s some movement with Russia and Ukraine, although it’s still uncertain. Iran is also doing quite well. We’ll see. We’re working on a number of issues.”
