Obaut Bob Edwards

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1947, Bob Edwards launched his radio journey in Indiana before making his way to NPR in 1974. He initially teamed up with Susan Stamberg as a co-host of All Things Considered. By 1979, Edwards became the first host of Morning Edition, a position he would hold for nearly a quarter-century. His deep, resonant voice became a comforting and familiar presence for millions of Americans each morning.

Edwards gained widespread recognition for his insightful interviews and standout segments, particularly his beloved weekly chats with legendary sportscaster Red Barber. Throughout his career, he received numerous honors for his contributions to journalism, including the prestigious Peabody Award in 1999.
