At the Broadway Backwards event, Adam Lambert delivered an unforgettable performance of “Acid Queen” from The Who’s Tommy, electrifying the Gershwin Theatre with his powerful rendition. The annual concert, which celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community through musical theater, took place on March 10 at the iconic venue, home to Wicked. Lambert, known for his role as the frontman of Queen and his cabaret performances, blew the audience away with his commanding stage presence.

This year’s Broadway Backwards raised a record-breaking $1,111,788, surpassing last year’s total by over $194,000. The funds benefit Broadway Cares and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City. The one-night-only event, produced by Broadway Cares, also featured Broadway favorite Jenn Colella, who returned for her fifth year as the host.

The star-studded lineup included performers from a range of Broadway hits, including Bobby Conte (The Who’s Tommy), Lorna Courtney (& Juliet), Nikki Renée Daniels (Once Upon a Mattress), Eden Espinosa (Lempicka), J. Harrison Ghee (Some Like It Hot), and many more. The event also welcomed notable figures like Tituss Burgess, Tony winners Kelli O’Hara and Gregory Jbara, and Tony nominees Joshua Henry and Dorian Harewood, among others, creating a night to remember for both Broadway fans and supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community.
